Three Commonly Asked Questions About ARTAS

commonly asked questions about ARTASThe ARTAS® robotic hair transplant system offers an alternative approach to traditional hair transplant procedures. The system is exceptionally precise and efficient in the way it harvests hair from the donor site to apply in the recipient site – follicle by follicle. It’s why the ARTAS® system has a 95% rating on Realself.com.

While the reviews are in, and there is plenty of sustained evidence that robotic hair transplant is the preferred transplant method, you may still have questions you need addressed before you can consider this option. Here are some commonly asked questions about ARTAS®.

Will the ARTAS Procedure Hurt?

While the process isn’t without some discomfort, this is an outpatient procedure that requires only local anesthesia.

Unlike other procedures, there are no surgical incisions or stitches required. That’s because the ARTAS® system precisely harvests hair follicles spread out over the donor area to make sure that everything looks virtually identical through applying uniform donor area harvesting.

You may experience symptoms that include discomfort and swelling for about one to three days after the procedure. You should be able to go back to your day-to-day activities in just one or two days as well.

When Will My Hair Start Growing Back?

Hair regrowth after a hair transplant procedure using the ARTAS® system does take some time. After the swelling goes down in those first few days, the next thing you’ll notice takes place around two weeks after the procedure when the donor hair falls out. Don’t worry, that’s what’s supposed to happen. It’s not until three or four months after the procedure that you’ll start noticing the very beginnings of your new hair growth.

Six months in, you’ll start to really notice your new hair growth. Because of how hair growth cycles work, about a year after the procedure is when you’ll experience nearly all the hair growth from your transplant procedure.

These things do take time, which is all the more reason you should look into if the ARTAS® system is right for you sooner than later.

Is The Hair Restoration Permanent?

Hair restoration using the ARTAS® system is permanent. That’s because the donor areas from the procedure – the back and side of the head – are hairs that are already permanent and unaffected by male pattern baldness.

While the restored hair is permanent, it is important to note that it’s possible down the line you’ll experience more male pattern baldness or hair thinning with age that you may want to have another procedure to restore your hair further along.
