Rosemary Oil And Hair Growth

Rosemary Oil & Hair GrowthHair thinning or loss is an inevitable part of just about everyone’s life. Before considering surgical options for hair restoration (or even the stronger medicated creams and lotions), many people are curious about what natural remedies are available to try first. One of those natural remedies that people talk about is rosemary oil.

Rosemary oil falls under the category of essential oils. That means it is a highly concentrated and distilled extract of the aforementioned property… the herb rosemary. There are dozens of different kinds of essential oils available that are used in everything from health and wellness to cooking and baking.

So, with all the various kinds of essential oils out there… how is it that rosemary oil can help fight off hair loss?

How Do You Use Rosemary For Hair Growth?

There are a number of reasons as to why rosemary has been looked to for promoting hair growth. The properties in rosemary have many benefits for your scalp – which in turn can result in positive effects for your hair.

For example, like some other essential oils (including peppermint), rosemary oil promotes strong blood circulation. As a result, the capillaries in your scalp are supplying your hair follicles with the nutrients they need to promote hair growth.

Rosemary oil has additional benefits that promote hair growth beyond strengthening circulation as well. These benefits include possessing anti-inflammatory properties and promoting nerve growth.

Does Rosemary Thicken Hair?

In addition to being used to promote hair growth, rosemary oil is also used to thicken hair. If you want to get these benefits, you’ll have to use it correctly.

If you’re going to use rosemary oil, start by applying it to your scalp once or twice a week. You can either apply rosemary oil directly to your scalp or you could mix it into your shampoo.

If you’re applying it to your scalp directly, you’ll want to only use a few drops mixed in with another oil – such as coconut oil – to avoid skin irritation. You can massage the oil mixture into your scalp while it’s still damp after a wash. Just make sure you leave it in for at least five or so minutes before you wash it out.

The oil is safe to leave in your hair if you don’t want to rinse it out too soon. Your other option is to put two or three drops into your shampoo or other hair products you use and apply as you normally would.

How Long Does It Take For Rosemary To Grow Hair?

As is the case with many products related to hair restoration, you’re looking at about six months before you can notice some big changes. That said, everyone is different. Some may experience faster results, some slower, and some may just not get the results they’d like.

While rosemary oil, other essential oils, lotions, and various treatments may help curtail hair loss and promote hair growth… for many it’s not enough to get the desired results. Because every patient is different, the best way to evaluate whether hair restoration procedures will work for you is to talk to a physician who specializes in hair restoration.
